Transforming into Pop Culture Characters with Low-Cost Cosplay

You might think that to cosplay, you need a lot of expensive materials and time to create your outfit. But as Anucha Saengchart (aka lonely man) demonstrates, all you really need is some simple materials and a little imagination. His popular Low-Cost Cosplay series on Facebook and Instagram shows how he transforms into characters from pop culture using only inexpensive, everyday items.

In each post, Saengchart starts by showing the materials he’ll be using to create his look. These can range from candy and body polish to ketchup and French fries. He then shows his work in progress, and finally, a side-by-side comparison of his finished cosplay and the original character.

Despite the simplicity of his materials, Saengchart’s cosplays are surprisingly accurate and capture the essence of the characters he’s portraying. They may not be exact replicas, but that’s part of the charm of Low-Cost Cosplay.

Scroll down to see some of our favorite budget cosplays from Saengchart. Whether you’re a seasoned cosplayer or just starting out, his creativity and resourcefulness will inspire you to try creating your own cosplays on a budget.
