21+ Brutally Honest Illustrations Expose the Problems in Today’s Society

Art has the power to stimulate the senses, broaden the intellect, and provoke thought. Here are some pictures by Austrian illustrator Gerhard Haderer that are quite honest and point out how imperfect modern society is.

As soon as the artist was required to appear in court because of his book “The Life of Jesus,” people began to react, notably the Catholic Church. This drama comes to a conclusion when the Greek court convicted him guilty in Greece in 2005 for insulting the religious community. He was given a 6-month sentence with probation. After an appeal, this inscription was changed, and a few months later, Gerhard Haderer was let go.

Early in his career, he began to hone his realistic approach while working as a cartoonist and artist for advertising firms.

After having to undergo a cancer operation in 1985, he quit his job and started working as a freelance satirist.
